Owner/CEO
Donnie Burchfield is the CEO/Co-Owner of FLCC and is married to Sandi. He has mentored hundreds of young men through high school sports for over 24 yrs. He primarily uses his football platform, although he has also coached wrestling, weightlifting, track & field, and girls’ basketball. Donnie spent many years as an educator in the Lake County School District where he taught Physical Education, Intensive Reading, Social Sciences, Grade Recovery, TV Production, and served as a Tech Con Specialist. He has always had a passion to pour into the next generation and build strong teams.
Donnie is also a dynamic and “out-of-the-box” speaker who often speaks at school forums, business events, church events, youth ministry events, and much more during his 24 years of being in ministry. He is also the lead pastor of a non-denominational church that is actively involved in the Lake County Community. Donnie participates on numerous community boards and projects in Lake County, FL such FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). He also enjoys passing out food at local food pantries, doing local outreach projects with other churches & organizations, and discipling future leaders within his church.
Since the very beginning of Family Life Counseling Center Donnie has been very innovating in creating a business that truly feels like a Family. Donnie constantly reminds his FLCC Team that every person matters! From the moment you walk into the office to meet your counselor you will feel the importance of the family atmosphere at Family Life Counseling Center. Donnie’s main role is the growth of FLCC and he also provides business consulting for other mental health business owners throughout the state of Florida. He and his wife Sandi donate to numerous school clubs and athletic groups throughout Central Florida. They are extremely passionate about providing unique counseling services that meet the needs of all ages as well. Some of the unique services that Family Life Counseling Center offer are action sports therapy, art therapy, music therapy (recording/lyrical/production), SSP (Safe and Sound Protocol), Brainspotting, and play therapy. Donnie desires to see everyone that comes into Family Life Counseling Center able leave better than when they walked in the door!

Hands-On Training
We are also a teaching facility with interns who are available to see clients at a reduced fee. These interns are marriage and family therapists and mental health counselor graduate students from local universities in the Central Florida area. They are under the supervision of Sandi Burchfield, LMFT, and Krystie Moss, LMHC.
Owner's Background
Sandi has extensive training and experience working with children and adult victims of sexual abuse, parental neglect, and domestic violence as a social worker with the Department of Children and Families. While working with the Lake County school system and ESE program, Sandi supported families who were struggling with a teenager who was oppositional defiant or had an IEP for Emotional-Behavioral Disabilities. She also has experience working with infants and toddlers who have developmental disorders (autism, Down syndrome, etc.) when she was training with Early Steps at Arnold Palmer Hospital. Sandi is court-approved for premarital counseling in Lake County and Orange County and is committed to showing couples and young adults how to build relationships in healthy ways. Fox News aired and posted an article Cassandra wrote outlining how to accomplish a happy marriage in 2009.
She and her husband enjoyed helping out with their church’s youth ministry and were youth pastors for nine years. They have four young children: Madisyn, Brintlee Grace, Bryce, and Paityn. They are actively involved in their church, as well as the community’s local youth athletic programs, with their children.

Ryan is a licensed mental health counselor who obtained both her B.A. in Psychology and M.A. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Central Florida. Ryan has been in the social services field since 2004, when she worked with delinquent adolescents and their families, creating plans for behavioral change and family support with the goal of reducing recidivism. She then worked for three years in Altoona at the Boy’s Ranch with foster males aged 12-17, supporting both the children and staff as a counselor and case manager. Ryan has continued her work as an outpatient counselor, providing services at home, in the office, in group homes, and via telehealth to individuals with a wide range of needs, focusing primarily on trauma, sexual abuse, adoption, foster care, HIV, identity development, substance abuse, mood disorders, and offering support for early adult life transitions.
Ryan recognizes that seeking assistance can be difficult and may cause ambivalence and fear. Knowing this, it is her goal to provide judgement-free services that promote healing. Ryan believes you are the expert on your life and situation but may feel lost on your journey. Krystie is a licensed mental health counselor who obtained her B.A. from SUNY College at Old Westbury and both her M.A. in Professional Counseling and M.A. in Theological Studies from Liberty University. She began her journey in mental health in 2007, working with individuals who were dually diagnosed with mental health and intellectual disabilities. She previously managed a residential group home and provided individual and group counseling to residents throughout the agency. She has a passion for serving this population and helping to meet the unique challenges they face.
Since transitioning to private practice, serving children and adolescents has become Krystie’s primary focus. She has experience working with youth in the foster care system in private homes, group homes, and shelter settings, children navigating the adoption process, traumatized youth, and youth experiencing mild to severe emotional and behavioral disturbances, including mood disorders, ADHD, PTSD/C-PTSD, and Reactive Attachment Disorder. She has experience assisting individuals who have experienced single-episode traumas as well as complex and long-term traumatic experiences.
Krystie understands that life can surprise us with transitions, unexpected events, and heartaches that leave us feeling confused or stuck. Healing and change are a journey that requires patience, encouragement, and often courage. Krystie works to create a warm and accepting environment that allows individuals to fully be themselves without fear of criticism. She utilizes a combination of interventions from narrative and experiential therapies and cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies, and she often includes play, music, and art to create a personalized and client-centered approach to healing. She is also trained in EFT and TFT tapping techniques for anxiety reduction, Safe and Sound Protocol, and Brainspotting.
Krystie is also a certified childbirth educator and birth doula and has a great passion for assisting families through the journey of parenthood.

Kelly Jennings, MA, LMHC, MH 21536

Kelly is a registered mental health counselor intern who received her degree in marriage and family therapy from Liberty University. Prior to obtaining her master’s degree, she worked in the field of case management, where she assisted individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families. Kelly has also had over 15 years of volunteer experience working with children and teenagers.
Kelly enjoys utilizing a person-centered approach to meet clients where they are in their journey and help them get where they want to go. She is passionate about helping people pay attention to how emotions show up in their bodies and process how their thought patterns can be adjusted in order to work through their past issues so that they can live their best lives. It’s Kelly’s goal to create a sense of safety and trust so that her clients are able to explore their personal stories without judgment.
Kelly is EMDR trained and has training in dialectical behavior therapy. She also enjoys using person-centered and experiential approaches.
In her free time, Kelly enjoys going on adventures with family and friends, gardening, and doing DIY projects. Kelly is the proud “fur mom” of her squad of cats and dogs.

Eric Chatman

Eric is a licensed mental health counselor and qualified supervisor with 10 years of clinical experience. He obtained his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Southeastern University and has furthered his training in the areas of traumatic stress, parenting skills, and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT).
After completing his Master’s in Professional Counseling, Eric began noticing that many of the families he was serving around Polk County had some commonly reported struggles. They shared about feeling ignored or unwanted by the adults in their lives, experiencing events that caused them to feel deeply unsettled, DCF involvement, or difficult behaviors with their children. Eric sought training to become more skillful in identifying, explaining, and treating generational trauma and abuse, parental burnout, and parenting skills. Over his years of clinical practice, Eric has developed an approach to support clients experiencing these things. Eric’s approach to counseling has been crafted to allow him to provide a supportive presence and effective solutions to the needs of his clients.
Eric has a wealth of experience in serving those with varying trauma histories, high-conflict families, suicidal thoughts, cutting, and other high-risk behaviors. Eric has specialized training in treating burnout and compassion fatigue in other helping professionals such as other therapists, teachers, paraprofessionals, and medical professionals.

Heather is a licensed mental health counselor who obtained her M.S. in Counseling and Psychology and Ed.S. in School Counseling at Troy State University. She has always had a passion to help others and has worked with children and adolescents in some capacity since early adulthood. Prior to earning her master’s degree, she spent three years working as an elementary teacher and one year as a reading specialist. Heather began her journey as a school counselor in 2003. She served as an elementary school counselor for two years and a middle school counselor for nine years in the Muscogee County School District. Heather enjoyed her time in the school system, working with students to reach their full potential academically, emotionally, and socially.
Heather started working in private practice in 2014. She provides individual, group, and family counseling. Heather has a strong desire to provide a safe place to help clients work through life challenges. Her goal is to empower her clients to grow mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. Additionally, she strives to help others understand their potential and unlock it. Heather specializes in helping children, teens, and families who are experiencing problems related to anxiety, depression, ADHD, ODD, self-esteem, managing emotions, parent/child relationships, adjustment disorders, behavior disorders, self-harming behaviors, crisis situations, and loss and bereavement. She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused brief therapy approaches.
Heather is married with five children and loves spending time with her family. Additionally, she enjoys exercising, reading, traveling, and watching her kids play sports. Heather is excited to help inspire you to make positive changes in your life and help you be the best version of yourself!
